The answer for me is yes. What is the answer for you?
Do you think there is a place for cannabis in religion? Or spiritual beliefs?
After scouring the internet for answers thinking there would be one. I'm not really sure why I would have thought that but I did.
I found there are many, hundreds of answers.
So the next question was - what version of all this conflicting information made sense to me?
Because in reality isn't that how we all choose what we believe in - because it makes sense to us.
My knowledge of religion is non-existent. As a child, I had some exposure and I hated it. I have read and watched some documentaries on it. I've only just started learning the history of cannabis and how it was used before people knew how to get high.
Here is my conclusion about religion:
Religion to me is not having a relationship with your higher power, it's living a life of how you think your higher power wants you to live. The good and bad. To be spiritual means to be open to how your higher power wants to connect and build a relationship with you. The good and bad. Because you can't have one without the other.
I translate that to mean that we are all a piece of him, it's what makes us unique. The different religions on this earth were created to help us understand him. We do not all learn and understand things as complex as a higher power in the same way.
I have read articles that say marijuana users are less likely to belive in God and go to any type of church.
I have read articles that churchgoers have bible studies and get high.
I have read forums that say God created the plant for us to use so there is nothing wrong.
I have read articles that say the bible (God/Jesus) supports marijuana.
I have read articles that say the bible (God/Jesus) doesn't support marijuana.
History shows that many ancient civilizations used marijuana in religious ceremonies or as herbal medicine.
I completed my research with no further grasp of how or if marijuana fits in religion. It's mixed and confusing and almost everyone has an opinion. In my eyes, it's the flip of a coin.
In the end, I guess it's personal. I'm a stoner, I believe in a higher power. I meditate, pray, ask for forgiveness, I believe I have guardian angels watching over me, and I believe stones and gems have healing energies. I don't identify with a religion or a spiritual practice.
I take a little from the practices I see that make sense to me. Each practice has made me feel closer to God, my higher power. I do what feels right.
Tell me do you have a higher power? What are your beliefs? Do you think there is a place for marijuana in religion?
